I would like to thank Emma_Girl for cooperating and doing this interview with me. She has been the most difficult interviewee yet! She demanded only fresh spring water from the alps for her dogs, her own trailer stocked with all kinds of expensive gourmet foods and if that was not enough, she made our entire staff cook her patcha, dolma, and beryani. I still feel bad for one girl on our staff...ahem and the situation that happened!
Enjoy!
1. For all the CC members share something interesting about you that most people do not know about you?
Hmmm…something interesting about me? Other than my Martha Stewart craft skills, I’m working on a few books to be published within the next few years. This includes a children’s literature series, a few novels, and a selection of short stories. My first published piece was added to the Library of Congress when I was 14. It was part of a national writing competition and something that I was very proud in achieving at such young age. Since then, I have written a number of different articles for a variety of publications. It’s not really a secret. Most of my friends know about my writing goals.
2. How long have you been a CC member?
I've been a proud member of CC since June of 2005. I googled the word Chaldean and found the source that will forever cost all of my future employers millions of dollars as I post during company hours. I enjoy being a member of CC. Through this website, I have learned more about our community, been up-to-date with current events regarding the Chaldean/Assyrian people, and have met a number of individuals I would probably had never had a chance of speaking with in person. I can’t say that I am a fan of everyone’s posts, but there are a few people who I enjoy chatting with on a daily basis. Through this site, I’ve been reminded of the fact that although there are some lazy members in our community, there are still those who share my beliefs and lifestyle.
3. So this is a serious issue on CC, how do you feel about giving the death penalty to constant spammers/thread hijackers?
I am in favor of this legislation. I am currently working on an amendment to approve a penalty that would surpass any punishment ever known to man. The latest definition of the CC Capital Punishment should result in the accused individual’s photograph to be posted before the application of any cosmetic product. The accused shall also perform the Emma_Girl Khagga and pay the fine of 54,321 CC points to me. Then it shall be at my discretion of whether or not they are allowed back to the forum.
4. For all the hot men out there , tell us, do you enjoy long walks on the beach? Relaxing at home and enjoying dinner and a movie?
Alright, how can I answer this question without making it sound like a match.com profile? I’m a pretty down to earth type of person. As cliché as it may sound, I enjoy the simple things. I could always go for a quiet evening at home, but I also like a number of other things including art, literature and music. I’m a big supporter of the arts and take pleasure in everything creative. For a good time, I’d rather spend the evening at an art gallery than a club. I enjoy the theater and I absolutely love musicals. I have so much pleasure in visiting museums, arts festivals, and plays with my friends. I’m not a huge sports fan, but I’ve had some really good memories at the Tigers’ games. I also enjoy music and comedy. An optimistic view on life is the best medicine. I love to laugh and smile, which is why I absolutely adore watching comedians and musicians perform. But to be honest, a good time could take place anywhere. As long as I’ve got good company, then it doesn’t really matter where I’m at, I know we’ll have a good time.
5. What type of traits do you believe is important in a mate?
Let’s see, what does my favorite Power Ranger have that no one else could compare? Oh boy, here goes another personal ad. There are assortments of traits I find very important in a man. I’m attracted to men that are confident, yet not arrogant. Giving, but not naïve. Things like education, good manners, good moral values, and a great sense of humor are on top of my list. The type of personality that usually catches my eye is that of a man that knows what he wants but is realistic with her journey in life. I try as much as possible to lend a hand to those who need my help, which is why I always appreciate it when a man knows how to give back. I also love it when I see men that have ambition to succeed in life and know the value of a good education. The ones that work hard to be the best they can be in their individual fields always have my utmost respect. Oh and when he’s done fighting the evil monsters all day long, he needs to know how to appreciate his family and past. I’m not talking about a mama’s boy, but a person who knows and accepts where he came from is more likely ready for every step in his future. Now, Caramello, I need you to mix this hareesa of a recipe and call me when he’s done cooking.
6. What are your stand on the CFA (Chaldean federation association) and their focus on bringing immigrants here rather than focusing on the peace in Iraq ?
I’ve heard of the campaign they were working on earlier this year from a friend who was serving on the committee. Their goal was to assist different Chaldeans on their quest to come to America . I think it is fantastic that they are helping the Chaldean Iraqis because we need to reach out to our people and help them in this excruciating time. However, Chaldeans don’t only live in Iraq . There are millions of other Chaldeans that live in other countries like Syria , Jordan , and Lebanon . These Chaldean tend to be forgotten. I don’t see why the Chaldean Federation of America can’t focus on bringing immigrants to America and also focus on the peace in Iraq . The CFA receives enough support from the government and businesses for them to generate the proper procedures to do their job as THE Chaldean Federation of America by addressing ALL issues concerning the Chaldean community.
7. What is your stand on the rally that we had last week?
I think that the rally was a good initiative by the Chaldean community. We might not be making the decisions, but we can sure as hell influence them. I think there should be a number of other rallies taking place, along with more public petitions, letters, and phone calls sent to those that do make the decisions. I think these rallies need to happen more often. The racism that’s expressed towards the Christian Iraqis is unacceptable and should be brought attention to. Just imagine your parents or grandparents hadn’t left Iraq those many years ago. You too would have been living in the midst of the craziness. Anyhow, I did not participate in the rally, but my family did attend the event.
8. What is your stand on the war in Iraq ?
Iraq is now a burial ground for anyone that sets a foot on its soil. I’ve got family living the war and friends serving the war, and at the end of the day, they’re all trying to survive the war. I lived in Baghdad during the Iraq/Iran war. I remember how I felt and what my family went through when my two cousins died in Dora while a missile hit their school. I remember those curfew hours, where everyone would huddle in the living room and pray that we make it through the night as the rockets blast nearby landmarks and streets of what we called home. With all the politics aside, my heart aches for the people of Iraq . Chaldeans are not the only group of people dying in Iraq . Christians are not the only group of people dying in Iraq . Iraqis are not the only group of people dying in Iraq .
We had no business going to war with Iraq . Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11. Iraq had no signs of WMD, and even if it did, it’s not like it’d be the only country out there with them. Every country in this world, including the beautiful U. S of A. has a military department and ideas of protecting their land in case of invasion. The main problem with this war was that it wasn’t thought through. The plan was to remove a wicked public official from office. Alright, but what happens after he’s gone? What about the people? We can’t enforce our way of thinking on a culture that has been following a specific line of customs and traditions for centuries. It’s as if some idiot actually thought that as soon as Hussein was out of office, the entire country would miraculously gain an extremely liberal and western view on life. That’s not how the world works. That’s not how human psychology works. The country of Iraq is now segregated more than ever before. As much as I’d like for our troops to come home and for the billions of dollars that is being spent on military cost to be allocated to other important national issues such as education, environmental affairs, and the perseverance of the arts, I still do not think it would be in Iraq ’s best interest if America left soon. Iraq has no order now. There is no law and everyone is out for their own good. We’ve stepped in and invaded a country. We can’t leave now that all the shit is stirred up.
9. There have been some controversies on CC involving a few members...ehem including yourself, care to elaborate your side of the story?
I swear I was not at Shenandoah that night. LOL
10. Have you heard about the new movie they are putting out about our Assyrian/Chaldean culture?
If you’re talking about the ‘Assyrian, the Struggle for Identity’, then yes, I have heard of this movie. I think that it is a great progress for our community. The arts are a very important influence on how other communities are introduced to a group of people. We need to support all Chaldean and Assyrian groups that aim at recognizing and enhancing the performing arts in our community. From documentaries to comedy shows to the little boy that likes to play the piano, we should always support the gifted gene.
Enjoy!
