It makes me so mad that our culture is so secretive about
any kind of medical issue.

Is this happening in your family?

This needs to change!

For my family. It really matters what the rest of the family
will say. THATS BULL CRAP!
WHO CARES. but the older generation cares what people think.

UFFFF, dam boaters!

That goes without saying for just about any issue bro, not only medical. Very sad that they're so consumed with trying to meet everyone else's expectations. They fail to realize that they're robbing themselves and their children of real happiness with this vice of theirs.

Here's my take on it:

If I've had unfortunate circumstances and this could be health related or not - to where it is nothing I or anyone else has any control of, and nobody can possibly help me...sometimes I'd rather only confide in one or two people and keep it from everybody else. The main reason is that I don't like sympathy. I don't like giving it or getting it. I cannot stand people feeling bad for me. It makes ME feel bad for THEM. I would rather spare those feelings.

Wow, if I said that (and I have said things like it) Hadeer, Lot, etc. would be looking to take me out into the desert and stone me. Couldn't agree with you more.

Uh Doc, you exagerate. As rare as it is, I've agreed with you on certain points. However, the parts I don't agree with you on are your obsessions/fixations, your continuous attacks on things which you are genuinely misinformed, and on things you repeat over and over and over and ov...well, do I really need to go on? See, although Nibras has pointed out a negative aspect of the community, (and every community has negative characteristics sweetie,) loves the Chaldean community, and would, I'm sure, be happy to point out its good qualities, (every community has those to as well sweetie.) Your arguments, points, discussions, threads, debates, responses to threads, and ideaology are extremely boring, redundant, stagnant, hypocritical, contradicctory, and over-all idiotic!

I agree completely and Nibras I have faced this very issue first hand in my family. It really disgusts me especially when the person facing the health issue isnt the one that wants to keep it a huge secret.

Bottom line: If you're keeping your medical problem a secret strictly because of fear of being judged; who cares. If someone can't accept you for who you are, and can't overlook a God-given circumstance you've been placed in; then **** them. End of story. Do we really need to follow in the footsteps of our elders with this stupidity?

You are very selective in what you attend to with your responses Doc, (just more proof of your intelectual short-comings.) I'm not going to proceed to prove your incompetence again. It's Friday night, and I'm about to go out and have a good time. You obviously don't have a healthy social life if You're searching through threads for my posts just so you can improve your self-esteem by "trying" to prove my inconsistencies. I'd normally feel flattered that someone's giving me so much attention, but coming from you -- no thanks. Have a nice night Doc.

P.S. If the 2-year-old is coming out in you again, go get you a pacifyer from 711 or something.

when I got shot 2 years ago, I didn't tell anyone. I still have not told anyone yet, and no one will ever know.

LMFAO @ BONO..

I think it is because medical illness and knowing about it takes away from happiness of other loved ones around you because they will be consumed by it. It is actually very selfless the way some people are..they don't want to hurt you.

An old practice in Middle Eastern hospitals is for physicians to see a patient and find out their condition, but not tell them the extent of it or something like that..obviously there is a problem with that, but the principle is that you don't want to hurt people, so you just don't discuss it.

so what's better, the accent or the bad grammar?

I'll put it this way: the bad grammar is ok IF it comes with an accent.
