That's a strange way to characterize African Americans. Doesn't abeed translate to "slave?" Don't you like African Americans? Do you object to people calling us "sand niggers?"
I know I do, so I'd appreciate you don't use the word abeed.

Lemme get this straight....its ok for you to come on to a chaldean forum and bash chaldeans ALL DAY but as soon as somebody uses the Arabic word for black person they need to be corrected? That offended you? WHY? ARE YOU BLACK? AFRICAN AMERICAN? ABEEEEEED?
This has gone too far. We call them Abeed, end of story. wtf seriously I cannot believe you just jumped on her for that. Of ALL the bashing you do on your own people!

No Cathy. You have it wrong. I never use pejorative words. I don't know arabic but I do know that the word abeed in arabic means slave. That is wrong. If that has become the common usage for the negroid population of the world then it is wrong too. If you read the history of the civil rights movement in the US, you'll find that southerners used the same argument in the 1950s and 1960s. They claimed that the term "nigger" wasn't a negative term.
I don't argue with you that it seems everyone in the Chaldean community seems to use the word abeed to refer to black people. But why would you want to refer to all black people as slaves?
Let me ask you, do you like any of the pejorative words to define middle easterners? Here are a few from the urban dictionary:
Sand Nigger
Dune Coon
Towel Head
Camel Jockey
Sand Monkey
I don't like those and object to anyone using them about me in particular and anyone generally. But by the same token I don't like the word abeed either.
As I said, I don't know arabic or chaldean, but I think the word aswad would be a better choice.

I am not getting into a historical debate here. I think it was clear that her intention was NOT to bash the entire race, as you do regularly w/ chaldeans REGARDLESS of which words you choose to use.
Furthermore there are many names, even proper names in Arabic that contain the word abeed. It has more than one meaning, and is definitely used in names. For example 'abdallah' means slave to the lord.
No I do not get offended when I hear derogatory terms towards chaldeans or arabs. My non chaldean friends call me names like that once in a while and its funny to me. And if its used in a negative way with joking aside, I really dont care. I dont care what people think of me unless I care about them. Its only words and its not that deep.
If you dont see what is wrong with this picture, what you stand against and what you said to her was wrong with what she said, then I am done here because I dont want to go in circles. I'm not here to fight or bash anyone, but I'll call em as I see em and you needed to be called out.

I stand against injustice and will not put up with nationalism as a defense of injustice. Any dual standard based on gender is injustice and I will not accept a defense of culturalism (really nationalism). The same holds true for the denial of liberty that the Chaldean elders try to impose.
Calling a whole race of people "slaves" is wrong Cathy. You may not like it, but its wrong. Its as wrong as calling that same race "niggers." But hey, its accepted and has always been that way so it must be alright.

Abeed translates as "slaves" not "slave." If you'd like to use the singular, a simple "abd" or "abda" would do.
Abeed can also refer to a group of men whose names are Abd and the person wants to refer to them as one entity.
As I said, I don't know arabic or chaldean, but I think the word aswad would be a better choice.
For sake of consistency, you should match your "abeed" (slaves) with "sood" (blacks).
I personally prefer "Afreeqeeyeen" because I'm not into saying abeed a lot, but it is a valid way of addressing those of African descent. Just like "Arab" is valid to refer to all Middle Easterners, even though we know that isn't the case. I still let people call me Arab.
Renee, enti munafiqa (you are a hypocrite). You don't need to use pejorative diction to be insulting Chaldean men. It's like saying "All Africans are cotton pickers" rather than saying they're slaves. Jesus said to examine yourself before you examine others.

As you know, I view the term "arab" for all middle easterners to be pejorative as well. But I find it interesting that you're "not into saying abeed." And I respect you for that.

I am likely the only person on here who is not a hypocrite. If it is an insult to discuss the truth, then I suppose I am insulting.
It's like saying "All Africans are cotton pickers" rather than saying they're slaves. Jesus said to examine yourself before you examine others. I have no idea what you mean by this.
You may be an a-hole  but you sure do know arabic. Thank you for that clarification.
