What is your favorite Chaldean/Assyrian foods?

My list:

Patcha - I don't like the skin too much because of the rubbery texture but the rice and meat inside is GOOOD. damn wish I had some right now :ohyes:

Dolma - really moist with a soury lemon taste is my favorite. I like mostly the dolma made with grape leaves but the ones that are with green pepper are really good too. I like my dolma covered with yogurt. MMMMMMMMMM... i'm getting hungry typing this.

Biryani - another one of my favorites. I like it with a lot of chicken and meat balls, patatoes, and peas. Some people like it with fried almonds and raisins mixed in it too but it ruins the taste for me. Biryani with either yogurt or salad on top is the best .

Kooba - ive eaten a few different types. The white kind with chick peas (my favorite), khoomsa (sour kind), kideldokea (creamy kind) and the red kind.

Least favorite Chaldean food - I don't like shoorba with okra. I think it's so nasty

Karnabeet, the stew with cauliflower and beef... damn that's so freakin good. I can't believe you don't like that. But I agree about bamia. I hate okra.

My mom wants to make homemade Dolma. We get it all the time at The Fresh Market in our town in Florida. She bought these grape leaves that were in a jar. Shouldn't they be fresh?

Dolma is any stuffed vegetable. People here will tell you they need to be fresh but I use the ones in the jar.

Dolma and shoorba of okra are my fav. I recall once I ate a whol pot with rice and pita bread. I head driven to LA at sunrise to attend a funeral (actually in Long Beach) and I came back starving. Mama made it good and spicy. Best meal ever. I don't recall how many times I had whacked my chest at the funeral.
