Intro...Tell us about Hadeer

I am a Chaldean hippie studying Ecological and Evolutionary Biology at the University of
Michigan in Ann Arbor. I am constantly described as a boater because I love Iraq, Arabic,
Telkeppe, and Sourath. I love speaking different dialects of the languages I know, especially Arabic, specifically Lebanese Arabic. I am usually the wild one of any group I am, but it takes time
spent with me for me to break down the walls and act a fool. I like to exercise and eat
healthy, and my favorite magazine is "Men's Health."

What does Hadeer do when not on CC?
Hadeer attends college, goes out with his friends, exercises, works at a liquor store,
goes to church, and does not study.

Your fav subject in school & why?
My favorite subject is foreign languages because it helps connect me to the rest of the
world. If I never learned Spanish, I would never have been able to see how cool one of my
coworkers was. I also like to learn because I want to travel the world, and languages
just intrigue me. I also like reading things in the way they were originally written. My
current endeavor is learning Syriac so that I can read the Peshitta. I like English a lot
too, it’s so sexy when someone has command of the English language.

Do you think you go overboard sometimes when discussing a issue?
Well, I believe my opinions can be drastically differing from what some others may be
used to, but I believe it is important to contribute who I am to this forum, and if I
don’t agree with something someone says that is generally held as true, then it must be
challenged or else we will not be living the lives that we think we have defined for
ourselves. So short answer is yes.

If you were locked in a room with 4 CC members who would they be & why?
Renee – To punch her ovaries and then make love to what's remaining.
Cathy – To adore her ovaries.
Yosip – To steal some of his women macking skills.
Ojeen – To learn as much as possible from him.

When you hear the words "Hell" & "Heaven"....what do you picture them to be like?
Heaven has stations. There is a manly pimp at each station with a robe on and olives
branches in his ears, with five or six women dressed in nothing but a toga with their
hair in pigtails & gold olive branches surrounding him, indulging in rock hard purple
grapes. There are pillars and the ground is made up of clouds. There are chariots and
whatnot. Pacha is available upon request. My idea is very Greek I just realized.
Hell on the other hand is like a volcano, except it doesn’t erupt. Instead, there are
little islands on it surrounding the lava where only a few people can occupy, which the
devil covering the top so no one can escape.

In your own opinion do you think its better to have loved & lost than to have never loved?
I think loving and losing builds character, and I believe loving is an integral part of
the human experience, so I would have to say that it is better to love and lose than to
never experience the joy of love. You’ll get over your loss, but you’ll never get over
not loving anyone at all.

What is it that makes you so proud to be Chaldean?
The common answer would be our long history, but that’s not what draws me to it. I love
the fact that I am so attached to my family, and that the community at large is like one
big network. Speaking a dialect of what Jesus spoke also makes me very proud to be
Chaldean. Mainly, our devotion and commitment to the important things in life make me
honored to call myself Chaldean, however, being Chaldean does not make me better than the
next person who is something else. I think many people use this culture as a birthright.

Why do Chaldeans speak more Arabic rather than their own language?
Mainly because Chaldeans were imperialized by Islam and industrialism and drawn to
educational opportunities in the cities in Iraq. Let’s face it; you can’t be all that you
can be in Telkeppe. You have to venture out. So you learn Arabic in places like Baghdad
or Mosul or anywhere else around Basra. Also, Chaldean contains heavily bastardized
Arabic, meaning we really don’t have our original words remaining as a part of everyday
language. I believe most Chaldeans are better able to express themselves with the
extensive vocabulary of Arabic that they were exposed to versus less extensive vocabulary
from Chaldean. It’s like me growing up speaking English. I simply speak better English
than I do Arabic and Chaldean, and if I need to express myself effectively, I will use
English. Also, Arabic is more practical, but I believe if most Chaldeans had the choice,
they would pick Chaldean. I believe with encouragement in attending Chaldean classes
early on, our language won’t die. We’ll just wait and see.

If you could change 2 things about the world what would they be?
1. More tolerance. Far too often, people discriminate for reasons that are beyond my
comprehension. What makes a Chaldean better than a Muslim? What makes a Puerto Rican
better than a Mexican? What makes Bill Gates more important than the rest of us or what
makes America disenfranchise African Americans based on the color of their skin? What
makes a heterosexual better than a homosexual, or a Catholic better than an atheist,
woman better than a man? We need to all understand that we are all human.
2. World hunger. If you see what children in Africa and India have to go through day by
day, you would want to change it too. It’s amazing that while I am sitting her doing
this, maybe 20 or 30 children succumbed to their malnutrition and died. I plan on
visiting Africa or South America with a friend in the near future to help with this
problem.

Do you feel because of your strong pride of your culture you get ridiculed?
Well I feel respected to be honest. I was in a senior personal philosophy class in high
school, where about twice a week, the teacher would pick a student and the class would
grill them about their lives. For me, I told them I was Chaldean, and they asked me “what
is that?” and I said something basic like “it’s a culture that dates back to ancient
Mesopotamia in modern Iraq, and we speak the same language as Jesus and we have a strong
passion for hardwork and devotion to family.” My asshole friend who knew me very well
asked “are you allowed to date?” and I said “personally I can’t because there aren’t many
Chaldean girls in Ann Arbor, and I want to get more into my education first” and then all
of a sudden I get questions like “would you marry a hot blonde Christian girl or a one
legged Chaldean bitch with no teeth?” That went on for 15 minutes, and I was shocked at
the type of shit they were asking, when the whole thing was supposed to be for my life.
But afterwards, many told me they respect my devotion to my culture and to my family. So
overall, I don’t feel ridiculed, I feel like being Chaldean at times is like being a
celebrity. LOL.

Boxers or Breifs or skin?
Briefs. If you are of Iraqi descent, especially from Baghdad, then there’s no other
choice. I also like to keep an inventory of where my tools are all at times. Boxers don’t
guarantee that.

What type of girl would make a good mate for you?
She must be Chaldean, Lebanese, or Italian (Sicilian is a plus). She must be shorter and
smaller than me, and have long straight dark brown or black hair. I like Tila Tequila’s
body just to give you an idea. She must be smart, established educationally, polite,
funny, be able to cook [pacha and dolma] and have a wild side to her. I don’t want a mate
who is boring and doesn’t want to do something because it seems so out of character for
her. I want her to be adventurous, so we can go do fun things, in and out
of..ummm...nevermind.

Do you think the media is to be blamed about Britney Spears going loco?
I used to, but now I think it was all just a publicity stunt and that she isn’t as crazy
as we think. Britney duped us all!

Tattoo's or piercings?
Tattoos are ****ing amazingly sexy. Definitely something big, not some little pussy
tattoo of a hollow heart.

What magical power would you like to have & why?
Ability to zap to anywhere in the world whenever I want. I love to travel and I love
seeing other cultures. I think it would be amazing.

Do you think those who pray to God & worship him have a better chance of being saved than those who dont pray nor beleive?
No. I believe God judges you holistically, and that religion gives you a good fabric by
which you base your life, but I don’t believe that you are banished to hell if you don’t
agree with everything the Pope says or don’t pray five times a day for Mohammed.

5 people youd like to bitch slap?
George W. Bush, Iran as a whole, Hassan Nasrallah, Israel as a whole, and Condaleeza Rice.

What would you say to be your proudest accomplishment to date?
Not dying.

Conclusion:
I am not as closed
Minded as many people like to
Think I really am
I LOVE IRAN (JERKface)
