This is the first Thrice song I ever heard...and well.... it kicks ass.
It's actually very deep -- considering the name of the song is "the
melting point of wax". *The song is based on Greek Mythology,
where a Father and his son are stranded on an Island. *The Father
creates wings out of wax so that they could fly off the island.... and
warns his son not to fly too high because if he does...the sun would
melt them...and not to fly too low..because the tide from the ocean
would break his wings. *The song is sung from the Son's perspective --
telling his father that he's flying as high as the wings can take
him...because otherwise he would never know his limits (in life)...if he
doesn't at least try and take a risk... *The song's message encourages
people to take risks and not always do everything the safe
way...because living life idle and afraid wont get you anywhere.
