After the ousting of the Saddam Hussein government, Iraq selected a new national anthem. "Mawtini", also a popular folk tune throughout the Arab world (and an unofficial anthem of Palestine), was composed by the same composer of the previous anthem, yet was written earlier, and the author of the lyrics also wrote those of the official Palestinian anthem.
