Isn't it strange how a 20 dollar bill seems like such a large amount when you donate it to church, but such a small amount when you go shopping?
This was from another thread, how do you feel about this? I'll post my thoughts after reading the post from you members..

Thats because chaldeans are self-centered and only think of themselves
I go to Oak Park church and i hate when i see people put money and then make change!!!!!!!!! there was this lady who was taking money out of the basket cuz she didn't want to put the whole 20! I wanted to smack her!!!!!
But, *to be honest with you... Oak Park church makes me mad! *I've been going there for 19 years. All the money we give the church there is no change, *IN or OUT. *That really makes me angry, they have a lot of space to make some changes. *And they don't... I don't know what the deal is!

Maybe she couldnt afford to donate the whole $20. *The church appreciates all donations large or small so god bless anyone who can give.

That's true...
But i'm sure she goes to church a lot. *So she could have put the whole 20 and not put money the next few time she goes. That just looked very bad.
I would much rather see her not put then take out and look like she 's starving!

Amen Renee! *I want to add that i really hate when i go to church and i see a guy pull up with a flashy car and when it comes time for the donation basket to come around...his hand doesnt even reach for his pocket... :disgusted:
and why would mar addai want to build a bigger church?

i like this thread, it reminds me of what Jesus said while he saw a rich man put money in the basket of the temple while an old lady put only a dime...and Jesus said "verily verily I say unto u, that lady who put that one dime put more than that rich man did" *The point is are we willing to give away our material positions to worship God? are we willing to seprate ourselves from money???
God bless..peace

If You Gonna Donate Money, Put A Dollar Or Two In The Basket, Dont Put 2o Ore More Cause Your A Show Off To The People Next To You, You Want To Donate A 20 Or More, Put It In An Envelope, And Give It The Priest Himself...

$20 to an already wealthy church? *Heh. *If they needed money so badly, they'd auction off their amazingly extensive art collection. *They wouldn't be clothed in gold-threaded outfits, most women envy. *And their cathedrals wouldn't resemble a billionaire's estate. And our priest (Fr. Michael) wouldn't be driving an S500. *If they really gave a sh!t about "feeding the poor" they wouldn't shove Christianity down people's throats, before handing them a measly cup of rice. *
And for Protestant churches...it's even more disgusting. *They treat you like a king in there. *God forbid you leave their church, and stop funding the Reverend's livelihood. *Seriously. *If you ever feel like sh!t, show up to a protestant church... and wave a $10 bill around. *Watch as the ushers wait hand and foot for you. *It's a business! *A shameless mockery of anything and everything "morality" stands for. *
Maybe churches can collect attorney fees from someone a bit more naive? *I'll save my $20 for a worthier cause.

Agreed.
When my family donates we usually donate food (bread), my mom wakes up on Sunday morning and bakes bread. We also donate $1 dollar per person, just because there are bills to be paid, ( you can call it a business). No one should donate more than a dollar to hear Gods word.
The church doesn't use its money wisely, with buying gold accented statues, clothes, and other unneeded items. Plus they charge for communion and other events, its actually a shame. Imagine if you didnt have money for your child to take communion because the church wants to charge you.

What would that have to do with donating money to a chruch?
You shouldn't have to donate $$$ to pray, giving to the chruch should be appricated by the "Staff" of the church wether it be .10 cents - 100 dollars.

Sometimes the money doesn't just go to the "church". But rather used for building a new church and helping various organizations.
But other then that you shouldn't have to give unless its for a good cause as helping others.
