Nietasche had a different reason for why he did not belive in God. *If you want logical reason to God's exiostance, Kierkagard, Kant, Aquains, and Descrates, all rationalized God's Existance. *More importantly, however, we can not understand God's mind with our small lens. *Imagine, if we could understand God, how great is this God then??? *plz, if u need some helpe with this subject, let me know and i will do my best. *peace

samuel, its interesting how you can sit behind your computer screen and decide *I don't get attention. *I could get down to your level, but I know that my accomplishments are far greater than yours. Im 16 years old, have a 4.0, a car, money, I got elected to be class president with a vote of over 77%. All of which I earned myself. And I know by the time im your age, I will have done much more than you.
But noooooooooooooooooooo I need "internet attention".

You all are acting like I said something bad about god. I simply said I no longer really believe in a god. If any of you can give me evidence that a god exists, than give me it. The bible is not evidence. Having faith is not evidence.
If any christians here can explain to me why things like dinosaurs, and neanderthals are not in the bible, than do it. Nothing that humans did not discover until recently has been even mentioned in the bible. The bible states nothing that can be proven true.
Pfizzle you really need to think before you say what you think. How will getting pussy make me believe in god genius?? Sex before marriage is a mortal sin, and if I wanted to believe in god why would I commit a sin. Its also funny how you go on some threads touting about being bisexual and than come here and call me gay. I'm sure you call people overweight too :)
Caz, I could care less about what you think, Like I said in my chigacobears album post, I no longer respect you, you stand up for your friends even when they are wrong.
Andys wifey, you are the last person who should call anyone stupid. But you areeeeeeeeee so funny and I can't help but love you.
To all the other christians, its funny how you have to swear, to "try" and get your point across.

randel, u asked about Dinosaurs and Neanderthals, good question! First and foremost, the Bible is not a science book to read to understand scientific phenomena! You have to understand that dinosaurs are actually mentioned in the Bible. *Read the story of creation very very carefully in genesis and how God created Adam and eve. *Many scientist attempt to reconcile the Biblical account with evolution. *

Hi randel........I am interested that you said that because it shows you have been thinking about these things. *How can you be sure that God does not exist? *Do you have total information? *How much of the world's knowledge do you possess? *Couldn't it be possible that God exists outside of your realm of knowledge?"
THE BIBLICAL APPROACH
The Bible nowhere sets out proofs of God's existence on the lines of 2+2=4. *But it provides a number of "signposts to God", aspects of the world which point irresistibly to Him. *Taken one by one they are not conclusive, but put together they are compelling. *Some of these are:
Nature. Romans 1 : 19-20. *The world around us presents us with order and law in minuteness of the atom and the vastness of the universe. *Whenever in human experience we see order, for instance trees in a straight line, we say "Someone put them that way." Design demands a designer. *The world does not explain itself.
Conscience. *Man, unlike any other creature, has a sense of *“ought to" which often conflicts with his "want to." Romans 2: 14-15. *Why? *Why does he long for meaning and purpose? *If he is only the product of a meaningless world, why is he not content to live a meaningless life? Something else has made him like this; this world does not explain it.
Jesus Christ. *His unique character, death and resurrection can only be explained by His being more than a man. *He is the supreme signpost to the supernatural. *
Prophecy. Within the Bible is a unique pattern of prophecy and fulfillment in detail that only a supernatural Mind could have worked out. *Jesus Christ himself fulfilled over 300 of these prophecies, including where He would be born, who his parents would be, how He would die and where He would be buried. *These were not fulfilled by conscious planning.
Invisibility. *2 Cor. 4: 18. *The essence of everything is invisible; the visible is only the surface. *The heart of human personality, the real "you", cannot be seen but is the most vital part. *The atom, the essential building-blocks of the universe cannot be seen. *The most important things in life, e.g. love: truth, faith, cannot be seen. *Yet we believe in all these things because we can see their effects, The ultimate heart of all things is the invisible God; we know He is there by the effects that He has.
No God, No Hope. If you leave God out and think logically, this world is pointless-just a product of chance and evolution. *We men are no more than the highest animals, Ephesians 2: 1 2: "having no hope and without God in the world." As Bertrand Russell put it: "We must build our lives on the foundation of unyielding despair." The existence of God is essential if the world is to make sense.
so Randel huni.....do not worry about the way others have put you down saying you are a kid and etc.........I am VERY happy that you are actully taking the time to think about the meaning of your own life, or if God exits or not .............huni ......pary for it reflect it and ask God if he exist or not ask him for prove and i asure you will get an answer back.......just to let you know i have felt that way one time before when i was like 13 or 14 *i think so i just paryed and asked God this exactly..
"God prove to me if you exits, i am weak and i am just a baby to this faith...so help me to find the way if there is one and help me find you if you are out there God....prove to me'
and i sure got my proof randel hun and i do not want to say how but i did and so you try if you got no prove then you have the right not to believe in God and just to let you know your answer will come if you pray but it might take long.................
sorry if you think i make no sence hun.......but if you want to talk to me more you can add me at cutebabyface3@hotail.com
thx hun
and HEY cheer up and don't listen to whoever puts you down.....i am on your side friend..........and trust me..

Randel, praying is the best way to understand things. *I have experienced a period of skepticism, and I went and did allot or reading and praying, and I figured out that after questioning that I became even a stronger believer in Jesus. *So its normal to have the feelings u r having, just begin to do some research and ask the right questions and pray about it. *God be with u..peace

If faith is a "gift" then God must have discriminated against those who have gone astray or were put into circumstances where their conception of a holy figure is a cow. *So while he provides the fortunate with the innate gift of "having faith" in the Christian ideology (*isn't it funny how everyone feels that they're the fortunate ones in this respect), he deprives others from acquiring this essential blessing entirely. *In fact, you're asserting that God predestines some to eternal damnation just by giving them such an awful disadvantage.
My mere mortal logic has already become suspicious of this "perfect" entity we have come to call God. *
I'm not saying that God doesn't exist. *Far from it. *I just think the holier-than-thou trolls who have infiltrated this thread should settle down. *Their claim of a God is just as silly (if not more?) as Randel's "epiphany."
__
*"Thank God I'm Jewish/was exposed to Judaism, because God preaches Judaic laws"
"Thank God I'm Muslim/was exposed to Islam, because God preaches Islamic laws"
"Thank God I'm Christian/was exposed to Christianity, because God preaches Christian laws"
"Thank God I didn't eat the burger, it could have been my grandmother."
If God blesses us with this intangible concept many express as "faith" - he seems to do it in quite incoherent terms.

Btw.... Another question. *Why does God have to be good? *Why can't he be a God of destruction? *The world around us is filled with natural disasters (which according to you, occur at the hands of He Himself). *So why isn't God's image tainted with torture, and destruction? *This is a random question I ask, because it REALLY seems that God has been used as a comfort cushion for peoples' futures. *
Surely there's got to be more to life than 70 years of bullshit and then dirt! *Hmm...let's imagine a more perfect being who has more in store for us and can provide some sort of sustenance to this nonsense! *And call him God!
Does God exist? *I find it interesting that so much attention is given to this debate. *The latest surveys tell us that over 90% of people in the world today believe in the existence of God or some higher power. *Yet, somehow the responsibility is placed on those who believe God does exist to somehow prove that He really does exist. *To me, I think it should be the other way around.
However, the existence of God cannot be proven or disproved. *The Bible even says that we must accept by faith the fact that God exists, “And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to Him must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him” (Hebrews 11:6). *If God so desired, He could simply appear and prove to the whole world that He exists. *But if He did that, there would be no need for faith. *"Then Jesus told him, 'Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed'” (John 20:29).
That does not mean, however, that there is not evidence of God’s existence. *The Bible declares, “The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of His hands. *Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they display knowledge. *There is no speech or language where their voice is not heard. *Their voice goes out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world” (Psalm 19:1-4). *Looking at the stars, understanding the vastness of the universe, observing the wonders of nature, seeing the beauty of a sunset – all of these things point to a Creator God. *If these were not enough, there is also evidence of God in our own hearts. *Ecclesiastes 3:11 tells us, “…He has also set eternity in the hearts of men…” *There is something deep down in our beings that recognizes that there is something beyond this life and someone beyond this world. *We can deny this knowledge intellectually, but God’s presence in us and through us is still there. *Despite all of this, the Bible warns us that some will still deny God’s existence, “The fool says in his heart, ‘There is no God.’” (Psalm 14:1).
In addition to the Biblical arguments for God’s existence, there are logical arguments as well. *First, there is the ontological argument. *This argument basically says that since over 98% of people throughout history, in all cultures, in all civilizations, on all continents believe in the existence of God – there must be something (or someone) causing this belief. *A second is the teleological argument. *The teleological argument is that since the universe displays such an amazing design, there must have been a Divine designer. *For example, if earth were even a few hundred miles closer or further away from the sun, it would not be capable of supporting much of the life it currently does. *If the elements in our atmosphere were even a few percentage points different, every living thing on earth would die. *The odds of a single protein molecule forming by chance is 1 in 10243 (that is a 10 followed by 243 0’s). *A single cell is comprised of millions of protein molecules.
A third logical argument for God’s existence is called the cosmological argument. *Every effect must have a cause. *This universe and everything in it is an effect. *There must be something that caused everything to come into existence. *Ultimately, there must be something “un-caused” in order to cause everything else to come into existence. *That “un-caused” something is God. *A fourth argument is known as the moral argument. *Every culture throughout history has had some form of law. *Everyone has a sense of right and wrong. *Murder, lying, stealing, and immorality are almost universally rejected. *Where did this sense of right and wrong come from if not from a holy God?
* * * * * *Despite all of this, the Bible tells us that people will reject the clear and undeniable knowledge of God and instead believe a lie. *Romans 1:25 declares, “They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator - who is forever praised. Amen.” *The Bible also proclaims that people are without excuse for not believing in God, “For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities - His eternal power and divine nature - have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse” (Romans 1:20).
People claim to not believe in God because it is “not scientific” or “because there is no proof.” *The true reason is because once people admit that there is a God, they also must realize that they are responsible to God and in need of forgiveness from God (Romans 3:23; 6:23). *If God exists, then we are accountable for our actions to Him. *If God does not exist, then we can do whatever we want without having to worry about God judging us. *I believe that is why evolution is so strongly clung to by many in our society - to give people an alternative to believing in a Creator God. *God exists and ultimately everyone knows that He exists. *The very fact that some attempt so aggressively to disprove His existence is in fact an argument for His existence.
* * * * * *Allow me one last argument for God’s existence. *How do I know God exists? *I know God exists because I speak to Him every day. *I do not audibly hear Him speaking back to me, but I sense His presence, I feel His leading, I know His love, I desire His grace. *Things have occurred in my life that have no other possible explanation other than God. *God has so miraculously saved me and changed my life that I cannot help but to acknowledge and praise His existence. *None of these arguments in and of themselves can persuade anyone who refuses to acknowledge what is so plainly clear. *In the end, God’s existence must be accepted by faith (Hebrews 11:6). *Faith in God is not a blind leap into the dark, it is safe step into a well-lit room where 90% of people are already standing.
Thank you and GOD bless!!! :alright:

Wow. *I used to pray before every single test I ever took. *I would hold onto a crucifix while taking my AP exams/SATS. *I truly felt that God was somehow feeding me answers throughout the process. *To my dismay, however, I noticed that when I stopped praying, I did just as well. *Strange.
Edit: *Rudy, When you claim something, the burden lies on your shoulders to prove it. *90% of the world believes in god, and like 50% can't read and write. *What's your point? *And by the way...if you're planning on proving God's existence based on superficial numbers, don't even bother. *

Randel, You are confused, thats all it is honey. Its a phase you are going through and different people go through different phases in their life. When I was in 8th grade, I used to wonder why we were here, what is the point of life, and then I figured it out, to make everybody elses miserable * j/k. The more you talk about it the better you feel. So all you assholes out there who are criticisizing him, grow up, get a life and let the man speak his heart! hes young and learning about life. Honestly Randel you shouldn't listen to anybody on this board that is against you. The reason I say that is because only you know how you feel. If you choose to not believe in God right now than thats your choice. You should at least believe in things such as family though since it will give you a good foundation to build on. *I am kind similar to you but to me I believe there is a God. To me God isn't on my team though so I don't go to church and do all the other things that most catholics do. *I used to say there was no God for me...and I still think that way until now, but I have seen and done a lot of bad things in my life so to me I guess I am just pissed at the path God put me on. *Your still a young guy and you still have a chance to make something positive of your life. *Voicing your opinion about this topic so strongly will only put obstacles in your path that you may not be able to surpass.

Your faith in God depends on how open-minded you are. *The more possibilities you allow yourself to consider, the less-likely you'll buy into the God deal. *People my age are very open-minded (don't look at this forum as an example - Chaldean culture often constrains one's mind), because we have a feeling of invincibility, and with that comes no obligation to be accountable to anyone. *However, Life can be a cyclical process both in physical and mental terms. *You begin fragile and weak and die in the same manner. *While everyone eventually reaches a mental peak (where they allow themselves to consider many possibilities to a given question), they soon decline and begin to fixate on their own mortality and the consequences of such. *It's really comforting to know you're growing old and useless BUT still matter to God. *
This very process gone bad can best be manifested through our friend Renee. *She has become so disoriented by the closed-to-open-to-closed minded cycle, she can't commit to any of her opinions, let alone defend them.
If this doesn't make any sense, it's not my fault. *My brain shut off last night at 6 o'clock after NINE fvcking hours of exams. *No joke. *No exaggeration. *NINE HOURS. *Who da man?

I would like to comment on the skeptic questions of samd, and let me first say that they are great concerns that needs to be addressed and answered. *I will do my best to answer your question from both a philosophical and a Theological perspective. *
About faith being a gift, it certainly is. *In your logical sense, u begin to ask yourself, so why would God give this “faith” to only a certain people and not others?? *Now, speaking from a Biblical perspective, God certainly wants us all to belive in him and certainly wants us all to go to heaven. *However, it is man’s own nature that stands in the way between God and man. Allow me to explain this from a philosophical way of thinking. *If you recall Socrates’ method of “cross examination” the purpose of this method was to bring out innate thoughts that we already had in us. *Plato took this method and furthered argues that we are born with certain things, but we need an outside source to bring it out of us. *Faith is likewise, we are all born with it, its the “innate” gift of God, however, for this faith to be manifested we need an outside source, like a church, a preacher, reading the Bible and so forth, for it to be exuberated. *
Now you had another question on why can we not dub our God, the God of destruction? *If you recall one of the Ten Commandments, it says, “do not make you own god”. *For me and u to sit her and assume that God is not a God of destruction, well at points he was…but he has his own plans for doing so. *So yes, one of the many dimensions of God is that he is a just God and manifests this justices the way he sees fit. *For us to understand and know God we must read the Bible, study it, question it and pray about it. *
So then u’ll ask why is the world full of natural disasters, well this subject gets into deeper theological discussion that I choose not to get into because its way too long. I will post something on it if u insist. *God bless..peace

randel, I can see you are attempting to take the Scientific understanding of the world around us and as a result, you have lost faith in God. *I can explain to some scientific phenomena that are actually in favor of God’s creation story in genesis, at the same time, I can tell u many many many contradictions in what Sciences have argued for. Neanderthal skulls that have been found, well you need to be very careful about this because you need deep and complicated anthropological understanding, don’t just assume that Neanderthal’s existed and thus the Bible is all false. *Bottom line, Science is also based on faith, so please, if you need some help on this subject, let me know!! peace
I agree with Ojeen. There is much more to neanderthal skulls than you have possibly heard. If you have done research on this subject, you will also notice the contradictions that lie within the evidence. First, it was researched that the neanderthal skulls were people who lived for hundreds of years in that time. With scientific proof, scientists proved that the older a human gets, the bigger his head and forehead get. Look at pictures of old people compared to the heads of when they were younger. You will notice a big difference. Now if you multiply the amount it becomes enlarged a hundred times over, you will get the shape of the head that you see in these skulls. The hot weather was also a dtermining factor in the proof they researched. Recent pictures of skulls and jaws were taken and compared to the ones many of you have seen previously. They were able to explain the missing links or seperated jaws. Maybe you should look a little further into the research and get both sides before you contradict God. If you were so religious once, it just makes you wonder why you are also so easily influenced to change your mind on your religion before you get a full-rounded explanation on science.

Eh. *Let's start by being nice. *I credit your comprehension. *You are an intelligent kid, when you want to be. *As for your allegation that I stigmatize the religious. *I don't. *There's no discernable way to interpret that if X believes in a particular religion, then X must be stupid. *Further, there's no doubt in my mind that brilliant people are in fact devout followers, and that you in particular possess the mental aptitude to reason your beliefs within the cozy confines of your mind. *The problem lies somewhere in between the method in which you express the complicated calculations circling your cerebral cortex (5 c's in a row!) and your denial that your beliefs are founded on "blind faith."

Well articulated my friend, and let me tell you from a Biblical point of view why its not “blind faith” and reinforce my argument philosophically, since u seem to be familiar with this subject. *The greatest commandments are to “love your God with all your heart, with all you soul and with your entire MIND! *Lets focus on the last part, MIND! This is a clear indication that Jesus wants us to be fully convinced before we embody and manifest our faith to God. *How shall we be convinced? Well, God has given us a gift to have the ability to question and through that process of applying our concerns, we should reach certain logical conclusions. *As for myself, I have questioned what Jesus stood for, as a philosopher, as a political leader (like how some Jews tend to view him) and also as a religious figure. *I did this from different ways, I studied philosophers, studied other world religions and finally, I studied science. *After all that I was empty handed, I found no apparent contradictions in what Jesus stood for, and more importantly, in anything he said. *I went even further to see if the Old Testament is filled with any contradictions. To do this, we must appeal to historical documents that have been unveiled through archeological tablets. *I find myself overwhelmed by the amount of information which reinforced what the Bible says. *Now don’t get me wrong, I have found some things that Biblical accounts do not coincide with historical manuscripts. *To conclude this, faith is a gift given to us from God, to manifest this innate faith we must question and become convinced from all our heart, first and foremost, then follow God. *Is it a leap of faith? Yes it is, is it blind faith? Not at all! If it was blind than I would not have questioned anything in the Bible and would simply accept it for what others tell me. *I hope this explains it better….peace

Read Descartes, read the bible, read the koran, or not. You don't need the bible to believe in God. Abraham believed in God and there was no bible. Buddhists believe in God and they have no bible. Grow the **** up already or take your problems somewhere else. You tire me.

We all remember Santa Clause right? How much faith did you have in him as a kid?
There were times I could have swore up and down I saw him, heard something, etc etc.
We all have been in "love" before right? How many times could you have sworn that you were going to be with that person forever?
Man created god, so he could be comfortable and spread his (mans) belief and idealogies.
Why are there people in mental institutions for hearing voices that we can cleary say don't exist, yet the masses in church follow some routine every week year after year after year? Who is really sane there?
there is no devil, He was created to shift blame from the faults of the weak minded, who have no balls to admit to thier own wrongs.
God is like love, niether exist, yet both comfort the lonely.
I do however believe in something out there, as in other beings. But a God-like figure. NAHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Of course I don't push my beliefs down your monitors, just merely posted my fonts for discussion. Which like anyone on here who has no "faith" is looked upon as a sinner.
So cast your stones My fellow lambs who pray to a god who's name you don't even know. And who's "writings" have been judged to be divine by man.

What most of you don't seem to understand is this "what does God mean to you?"
To me there is a God but I just don't believe in praying/worshipping. That's what it means to me. I know a few people who have posted on this topic are devout Christians who attend church regularly and probably don't even speed in traffic. To them that's the correct path and I respect their opinion. If this kid chooses to go down that path, you can't force feed him something that he doesn't want to be fed. You have to respect his opinion and let him make his own decisions whether you think its a mistake or not. The more you force the topic down his throat, than the more you will him reject it. *If you don't believe me than the proof is in reading his posts from the very start of this topic till present time. He started off as saying he was 50/50 and now he is pretty much 100% against because some of you are trying to force feed it to him. *If I felt like paint the heart on my Jesus tattoo black because I feel like I have a black heart inside of me, thats my choice. That's just the way I feel at that point in time. The best choice to have been made when he said he was questioning his faith would have been to give him positives and negatives to both sides instead of taking such a strong stance against. For those of you who are psychology majors....I am very disappointed that you wasted your money on all that education that your not putting to good use.

rita can you give me a link to where you found all this? I know you like to spit out BS left and right, so it would be nice if you could prove what you said.
Randel, stop being the little twit that you can be. you asked a serious question and people have given you serious answers. then you respond like this? I'd like to spank your sorry ass and then tell your mother what she did wrong that made you so disrepectful to older and wiser people.
You have had a lot of responses from all perspectives. From the scientific to the philosophical to the biblical. I agree with what someone else said. YOU JUST WANT ATTENTION.
Read Descartes, read the bible, read the koran, or not. You don't need the bible to believe in God. Abraham believed in God and there was no bible. Buddhists believe in God and they have no bible. Grow the *up already or take your problems somewhere else. You tire me.
Lmao, im definitely not going to listen to someone with no morals like you tell me about god. If she gives me a bullshit answer, and I know its bullshit, Im not going to accept it. I could care less if she's older, I know for a fact I am more mature than her. I have NEVER went out and started something with someone, like I have seen her do many times. Lets face it Renee, YOU WANT ATTENTION. DONT YOU REALIZE YOU DON'T HAVE TO RESPOND? IF YOU DON'T LIKE A THREAD, DON'T POST IN IT, SIMPLE AS THAT. *Maybe you need to grow up, and stop acting like a slutty 14 year old. You tire me.
By the way cammpain made the best points, and what joey said is preety right, I started of 50/50 and am way more atheist now than anything. Some people made smart comments such as ojeen1981,Savoshka,samd,maxpower818p,cammpain, Joey2382, UmiSayz, and emily. But the asshole comments from sammiedebull, pfizzle, andys wifey, caz, rita, renee which were intended for me to believe in god more actually lowered my belief by alot. *I mean if there really is a god do you all expect to get there by being jerks who only try to push themselves up by bringing others down?? I know im not god, but im preety sure that if there is a god, everyone who made an asshole comment is going to hell except caz. So maybe all of you telling me how to live my life should look at themselves at evaluate their own lives. PRACTICE WHAT YOU PREACH.

I was. Not really anymore at all. I'm not completely shutting out the existence of a god but right now highly doubting it.

Well, Randel being 1 year senior to your age, I think that at one point in time, like now being a teenager and stuff, you lose faith in God becus you don't feel his exsistance but in truth, your here today and you most definitly seem to be in good shape and you only have one to blame, GOD. *I quit on God a few times when I felt like shyt wasn't fair but the problem is HE never quit on me. *So in your case, you sitting in the same shoes that many young adults seem to fit perfectly. *Right now, your dening God but he hasn't nor will deny you, so you should take a step back and realize what you are saying. God is there for you but you must put your faith to the test and believe.

I suggest you discover yourself. Study the differences between the major religions. You have a choice and theres so many options out there for you. Find yourself then find a place in your heart for God. Sounds sappy but thats how i become who i am today :)

Your mom goes to college.
Once again you have proved that you are just immature. There have been 4 pages made for this thread and not once have u mentioned your reasons as why you have changed your mind and against God all of a sudden. How do you expect people to respect you when you make comments, people give you advice and go into detail about history, etc. and you are just criticizing their answers and belief in God. If you want to be respected and taken seriously, maybe you should consider explaining yourself and your experience before you ask us to explain ours.
Also, it really doesn't matter to me what you believe in. I'm not trying to force you to find your way back to God. If anything, it's so much better cuz I won't see you in heaven. LOL j/k.
