I am convinced that LIVE 8 will never achieve its lofty aim of persuading politicians G 8 from the world's richest countries to eliminate debt owed by poorer nations.
I do not believe that rock stars have the ability to persuade these Politicans from making a change, its far more complicated than just throwing down a concert.

It was a great effort. The concert was to draw our attention to the problem and have the civilians support the idea. Entertainment is what brings us together and it was a nice idea. However, I do not think this will be the answer to ending extreme poverty. I do think this was a great start and has opened the door to get there one day.

leaders from the Group of Eight ( G8: Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Russia, the United Kingdom and the United States) discuss the world's most pressing economic, social and political issue to fix the problem (see "Bush, Blair Lead Up To G8).
from Wikipedia you get
The Group of Eight (G8) is a grouping of eight of the world's leading industrialized, democratic nations: France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom, the United States, (the G6, 1975), Canada (the G7, 1976), and Russia (not participating in all events). The hallmark of the G8 is an annual economic and political summit (G8 Summit) of the heads of government with international officials, though there are numerous subsidiary meetings and policy research.

Certain morons here don't like it when Wikipedia is used as a reference. *These same morons reference the bible in every thread. *Go figure.
