Lenin. *because he was the architect responsible for creating the soviet union. *in addition, his revolution became an archetype in which other political figures used to spearhead their own revolutions. *It inspired countless leaders to free their countries from the yolk of imperialist rule.

Ronald Reagan -- when he stood up to Gorbachev and left the Reykevik Conference; stood up to the liberals by developing the Star Wars missile defense system; and told the East Germans to "tear down the wall"
he effectively ended the tyrannical communist regimes around the world.

He was the author of the era known as "pax americans"

How can you put a corrupt, senile, "cowboy" in the same league as Roosevelt. **shivers*

The glorification of Reagan is just as retarded as hip hop's glorification of 2pac.

"Tear down the wall." *Oooo. *He said that all by himself? *

The New Deal > Reagan's whole career as president and governor.

Actually, it was Gorbachev's *glasnot and perestrokia reforms that catalyzed the fall of the Soviet Union. *In addition, the Soviet machine was no longer capable of supporting itself economically. *Reagan did not do anything except precipitate wars in Central America. *His ill-fated STARS wars program was a complete failure. *Roosvelt's New Deal did little to rehabilitate the US economy. *It was WWII and the subequent restoration of Western European markets via the *Marshall Plan that reinvigorated the US economy.

The United States developing the star war missile defense program forced the soviet union to continue developing it's military-industrial complex. the diversity of the american economy allowed both the growth of military goods and the growth of the consumer sector.

The so-called planned economy of the soviet union promoted a "guns OR butter" situation so the consumer sector suffered because of the growth required for soviet defense spending. the consumers revolted, essentially, because they wanted televisions and vcr's.

glastnost and peristroika were ruses (pardon the pun) to get the US liberal establishment to put pressure on Reagan to continue with the policy of mutually assured destruction. it didn't work.

REAGAN (WE) WON

glasnot and perestrokia were attempts to liberalize the the soviet economy. *but gorbachov had no clue that these reforms would open a flood-gates of problems. *first, it made people increasingly more exposed to western materialism. *this in turn made them increasingly more disatisfied with their regimes. *velvet revolution in czechoslavkia is an example. *it would be foolish to say that it was reagan who single-handedly toppled down the communist regime in the soviet union. *several factors contributed to the fall of the soviet union. *i don't have the energy to explain in detail the causes of the fall of the soviet union. *but if ur curious, pm

You communists make me laugh. You just can't seem to let go of the fact that you were doomed from the moment of the workers revolution of 1917. The psychological nature of humans is to be utilitarian, meaning that we are concerned about our OWN well being. The idea of a classless society has never been realized because, given the chance, individuals will always try to make their situation better at the expense of others.

Republican democracy is the political system that most closely mirrors the human psyche. Accept it:

Utilitarianism has nothing to do with pursuing selfish interests. *When Adam Smith coined the term, he applied it to the economic forces of production, mainly the private sector. *He genuinely believed that this sector is desirable because it’s capable of brining happiness to more people than mercantilism.

Our view of Marxism is by and large tainted by our knowledge of the rise and fall of communism in Russia. *Marxism, as prescribed by Karl Marx and Engels, is diametrically opposed to the ideology put forth by Lenin and his cohorts. *Marx firmly believed that a socialist revolution can only occur in highly industrialized societies where a large proletariat class exists. However, Marx lacked the foresight to predict the occurrence of a socialist revolution in an underdeveloped country like Russia. *In addition, Marx believed that this revolution can be democratically carried out by the masses. *Lenin, by contrast, lacked faith in the masses because he believed that they were bound by what he called “trade union consciousness”. *Only a special revolutionary class, Lenin averred, can orchestrate a socialist revolution. *Marxism-Leninism thus concentrates the “power to make history” in the hands of a few people, the vanguard class.

Little boy, you can't stand the fact that you've come up against an intelligent, well read woman.

Adam Smith was not the founder of the Utilitarian school of philosophy. It was Jeremy Bentham. The term "Utilitarianism" seems to have been invented by economist and philosopher John Stuart Mills. Jeremy Bentham was a friend of the philosopher and Mill's father James Mills.

Oh you run a consulting business huh, why dont you consult me to on where to invest all my money. *.

What do I know about investing money. The only thing I know about money is how to make it. I run a jury profiling business. But I tell you what. When you get arrested I'll help your lawyer pick a jury that will save your sorry a$$.

And come on, doesn't that party store you work in have a slurpie machine?

Inteview?? *Whatever. *You dont have the time to tell me but you have the time to spew your bullshit all over this site. *Have a nice career in the communtiy college helping those kids get their associates in whatever.

LMAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO..WELL PUT!

It's interesting that you'd ridicule my profession. I get paid well, I teach 3 classes a week (9 hours times 28 weeks), get clerical support, an office and telephone, AND I run my consulting business from here. Sure sounds like I have alot to be ashamed of.

BTW, can one of you get me a slurpie? *

OOooo what did you do, watch runaway jury and think you could do the same thing? *Business must be booming let me tell ya. *You wont have to worry about me getting arrested sorry to let you down. *You wont be charging me that 7 bucks an hour you charge to screen jurors. *

Oh and sorry, I dont work. *I goto school full time for a degree that isnt worthless like your Phd in bullshit.

Enough already! You guys are so freaking immature. Get over yourselves.

BTW, just a little insight, many community colleges pay more 4 salary positions than any of your local universities. Most CC's get more funding. After all, isn't that what matters most?

This girl is funny. *For someone who has a Phd and a law degree she doesnt seem to be putting them to much use by posting in a forum all day. *She also slipped up in an earlier post in this thread and said that she checked her University bookstore for a book. *So either she works there or is taking night classes for that good ol' business degree while she works daytimes in some office as a secretary taking notes, or she legitimately is an idiot with a law degree and a phd who works at a university when she could be out in the real world making a shitload. *I think she is full of shit personally.

she checkher university for a book, there is no law forbidding outside customers to come in to a unversities bookstore * i could walk into wayne states and purchase one if i wanted to * * * * idiot

Adam Smith was not the founder of the Utilitarian school of philosophy.

Sometimes when people use the thesaurus...it bites them in the ass....

that if she went to a university to purchase a book it possibly could be at one that she used to attend.
