It may look like an easy take after the big 30-3 blowout the Panthers had last week (and have had the last 3 weeks), but if you watched the game, you would not be throwing yourselves at the Panthers feet here. The Panthers had only faced one top 10 passing defense this year when they played Detroit in week 6 prior to this game and they barely won by one. Since the Jets were top 10 here as well against the pass, I said they would put Ty Law to slow down Steve Smith (3 catches, 34 yds, 0 tds), and they would slow the running game only because CAR is NOT a good running team (avg 3 ypc).

Well that happened as well as Davis ( 3ypc) and Foster ( 3.3ypc) both barely reached that average. The Jets did the rest with their pass coverages as Delhomme made the mistakes I said he would (119 yds passing and 2 ints). And the Panthers only had ONE drive that went over 45 yards the whole game.

So why was it a 30-3 blowout? Simple... it was luck. The Jets had 6 turnovers (4 ints and 2 fumbles). Of those 6 turnovers, 4 of them were deep in their own territory (including a fumble on a punt return) giving 2 easy tds and 2 easy fgs to the Panthers (1 offensive td that started from the Jets 34 and took 6 1/2 min off the clock to score and the other was a defensive run back for 35 yards) throw in the 2 easy fg drives that started close to the Jets end zone and now you have 20 points easily handed to the home team. Fortunately for the Panthers, the 2 int's by Delhomme were both in Jets territory making them still earn their drives and not given the easy points.Take those 20 given points away (since they only had one drive over 45 yards at the beginning of the game) and you would have had a 10-3 ball game and a Jets cover. After all, the Panthers were struggling with this defense. Which brings me to my point. The Bears have a top 5 defense against the pass and against the rush and are facing a Panther team that has been blowing out opponents the last 3 weeks. Even though the Bears are also coming off a win, they are still coming off a bad performance in a windy game and will be ready to perform.

Orton should not make the mistakes the Jets made and they ARE at home here. CAR may struggle alot here as well as they did last week, only this time they will not get the lucky breaks. Delhomme will make mistakes again as he always does against tough pass defenses, but the Bears are NOT a defense you can afford to make mistakes on as they can run them back on you anytime. The Bears are on a roll. This will probably be another UNDER game. I am waiting to see if the line moves to CHI favor as I think the Bears have one hell of a shot to dominate here. Carolina is a one dimensional team.
