Assyrian American National Federation proudly welcomes you to the 70th Annual Assyrian Convention in Rosemont, Illinois USA, on August 28th thru September 1st, 2003.
Every year thousands of us from throughout the world gather to celebrate our heritage, social and cultural traditions in what has come to be known as the Assyrian National Convention. Today, with the ever growing presence of Assyrians in Diaspora, it is even more important for us to create and foster an environment where we can continue to celebrate many aspects of our continued existence and identity.
It is with pleasure that we present our program for the 70th annual National Convention. We have prepared an impressive lineup of programs and activities covering various facets of our heritage, with unprecedented emphasis on some of the most critical issues facing our nation today.
To preserve our unique social traditions, we have brought together an incredible circle of Assyrian folklore and pop singers that would delight all generations. Additionally, we will present a variety of handmade folklore costumes, especially designed and produced for this convention.
In order for you to fully enjoy these festivities, we have developed a simple pre-registration process which guarantees your attendance at all events at preferred pricing discounts, including:
Discounted Hotel rooms available exclusively to registrants (guests) at four (4) premier hotels which are walking distant from Donlad Stephens Convention Center
Priority admission to ALL entertainment functions (parties)
Priority admission to lectures and presentations on some of the most pressing issues facing the Assyrian nation (limited seating)

Our young adultsin first through 4th year of collegel will have the opportunity to compete in a cultural and educational event displaying not only their talent but also high academic achievements.
LABOR DAY PICNIC
We close the convention on Labor day with an all day with our popular singers.

National Youth Excellence Pageant (YEP)
The Assyrian American National Federation (AANF) and the Midwest region affiliates for the 70th National Convention, along with the National Youth Excellence Pageant Committee would like to invite qualified college students to participate in the Ninth (9th) Annual Assyrian American National Federation's Assyrian Youth Excellence Pageant (YEP) to take place during this year's AANF Anual National Convention August 28th, 2003 to September 1st, 2003 in the City of Rosemont, Illinois at the Donald K. Stephens Convention Center.
The Pageant is a program to promote and reward education, talent, and knowledge of the Assyrian language and history and good character among our youth.
Phase 1 Thursday August 28, 2003 7:00 PM Closed to the Public
An introduction & orientation session. In this meeting a written test on Assyrian history and literature will be conducted.
Phase 2 Saturday August 30, 2003 12:00-4:00 PM Open to the Public
An introduction and presentation by each candidate of their talent and response to one random question. During this session the judging panel will select the Assyrian Youth Excellence Pageant winner and two runner-ups from each gender and introduce them to the audience. Awards and prizes will also be given that day.
Cash Prizes:
Winner $ 1,500.00
First Runner-up $ 1,000.00
Second Runner-up $ 500.00
Qualifications:
Have at least one parent of Assyrian decent.
Must be between 18-24 years of age, attending college, or be a high school graduate.
Be in good standing in his/her respective educational field, with a GPA of 3.0 or above.
