Post Gym memberships/contracts

Do you have a membership at a gym? How do you like it? Or do you prefer to buy equipment and use it at your house?

I used to have a Bally's membership but I ended up not being able to keep up with the payments and got out of my contract. I'm looking into local gyms instead of big franchises because I don't want to sign a contract and they are usually lower in price.

I found one that is 24 hours a day, 7 days a week but it's a 50$ enrollment and then 35$ a month? Not sure if I should sign up or look elsewhere.

I can't wait until lifetime has a promotion like they had a couple years back. I have a brother with a membership and they basically just take a portion off of enrollment fee and everything else stays the same. wtf

Lifetime is annoying because its filled with zateet walking around, but I love the fact that its 24/7. I'm gonna start to go around 9:30-10, so I don't have to see any zateet walking around doing a fashion show.

The reason I'd rather have a membership instead of equipment at home is because if I'm driving to the gym than for sure I'm going to workout. I don't know I just get motivated when I see people working out around me. Plus, you can always get a partner to motivate you if you have a membership at the same gym. You can't really do that in your basement.

That actually sounds very reasonable. I have the equipment at home, but I had a hard time dedicating myself to it. I am much more faithful now that I have a membership. For those of you that don't like working out in front of guys, you should consider Curves. You aren't committed to a contract either (you pay about $5 more a month to have that opt-out option). As well, they have programs that hold you accountable - I need accountablility! What I mean is you have weekly weigh-ins, etc. When you commit to something like that, you are more likely to stay focused for longer rather than saying, "It's in my basement - I'll get to it when I can."

There's a gym called fitness 19 that's like 19 dollars a month. I'm not sure if it's 24 hrs though.

I work out at Wayne State lmao but i havent in a few weeks oppps. Its a nice gym and its pretty big. I think if you are a motivated person no matter where you workout you will do it. But if youre lazy then yeah there are a loooot of excuses to make up. My mom works out at home and she has so much strength i love her for it. So it all depends on the person i guess.

I bought equipment and put them in the bedroom next to mine so that I can have easy access to it. It only took two weeks and I stopped going into that room.

I then got a membership at Lifetime...yes it's a bit expensive (60$ a month) but I see the money leaving my pocket and I'm like..I better make my money's worth. It also taught me a lot of dicepline to continue exercising. It also helps me a lot with my stress....so it's a win-win situation...

Bally's membership is $25 if you get it at the right time.

Last time they had one for 20$ a month but there was all sorts of catches to the plan they never mentioned on the commercials. Like I couldn't go to the gym more than 3 times a week and only to one certain location.

Plus I'm not a big fan of Ballys. It's almost always busy and crowded. All that is really distracted when I'm trying to focus on my workout. And then this weirdo in the locker room tries to strike up a conversation with me butt ass naked and it creeped me out but that's a whole nother story.

I prefer smaller, hole-in-the wall gyms.

No catches. I know people who have it and have full access of equipment and utilities in the gym.

I do have a 24 Hour Fittness membership and I only pay $15 a month for it.

But I really prefer workout at home because I wont feel as lazy to wear my gym cloths and drive there.. etc.
Till i buy my own equipments, i am still going to the gym.
