Keeping up with the Chaldeans

When it comes to having and attending parties, what do you do to keep up? I'm not just talking about weddings - all parties. Engagements, showers, anniversaries, birthdays, communions, baptisms, welcomes, goodbyes, Congratulations for passing that kidney stone...it never ends, and there always has to be at least 353 guests each time.

How is this affordable as the host or the guest when there are so many of them throughout the year?

Most importantly - ladies - do you buy a new dress for each one? HOW?? And, do you wear a dress more than once? Is that depending on who you wore it with already or what? Do you borrow dresses? If you did, would you admit it?

Please enlighten me!

I was having a conversation with my dad a couple hours ago about this exact thing! We've got a big extended family and I kid you not, there's a azeema every other day at one of my uncles' house or a gathering we have to celebrate one of the things you mentioned above. My thing is that we don't all have to go, but of course, my parents think otherwise. Quantity vs. Quality people! Unfortunately, within our people, it's the other way around. They think that the more the better. I personally would rather have my closest family and friends present than everyone I have ever met! That's just insane.

As far as attire, it can get quite expensive, but I try to change it up with accessories and brands. I don't borrow clothes from people because I don't like putting on something that belongs to someone else. I'd rather buy an inexpensive dress that I paid for than borrow an expensive dress from someone else.

As far as hosting, I'm a born hostess! I love hosting parties for friends and clients. My parents like doing it for the family, too. We do a few throughout the year at our house for the whole family and that takes a lot of work, time and money, but at the end of the day, it's always a lot of fun, too.

Hosting at your house is not nearly as much of an expense as hosting at a restaurant or a hall. But, it does require a time and effort committment which cannot be escaped. Still, if your list goes on beyond the closest relatives, the house is not an option.

With all these parties and invites and big shannanigans you lose sight of what's really important and what you are even on this earth for; to find your soulmate.

excessive parties, big ceremonies and inviting people you don't even like is an insult to the whole sanctity of marriage. it's not a show.

I don't really understand why people who are single are trying to keep up. Just look at it this way... when you are happily married you can go with your partner to any of these things and enjoy dances other than the goddamn khigga.

That is all.

Unfortunately, yes. My parents families are close, so whenever there is a party both sides are invited. You can't wear the same dress to both sides of the family.. it's just not right lol jk

Btw, there is a website where you can rent a dress. The cool part about it is that some are really nice designer dresses. For example, if it's for $500, you can rent it for like $75!

The problem with that is, how do you know how it fits before trying it on? And, there is no way you could do alterations on a borrowed dress, and how often do you find a dress that fits you perfectly the way it was made? For me, not often.

Alasas, you can get the same dress with a different size for free or you can get a back up dress for $25. I figure if I add a little more money I can get a dress that's mine and most likely, I will have to alter the length anyway. I still like going to site because you can always get new ideas from them.

Here's the site if you want to check it out

who will give to you? Give and take, a relationship. If 3 holes in my pockets, would it matter if I borrowed a dress??? My father is the head of our household. He paid the Internal Revenue....
